A Poet's Double Life

For poets working outside the literary world.

April Poem-a-Day Challenge, Day 19

Prompt: Write a burn poem.

Burn

burn
You remember the heat–
the friction
of arms and legs
pressed together
like two sticks
intent
on sparking,
but the flame
burned quickly
and what’s left
is just the memory
of fire
on your skin.
